Azerbaijan increases gas exports via South Caucasus pipeline by 50%

3 549,3 mln. cubic meters of gas was transported via main gas pipelines in Azerbaijan during January of 2021, which is 12.2 % more in annual comparison, State Statistics Committee told ONA

45.3% of gas transport was carried out through the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum South Caucasus Pipeline. Thus, 1 607,1 million cubic meters of gas were transported through this pipeline (an increase of 50.1% compared to relevant period of 2020).

The Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum gas pipeline was constructed for transportation of gas extracted from the Shah-Deniz field located in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea to Georgia and Turkey. The length of the pipeline is 980 km, while the diameter is 42 inches.

The first gas exported to the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum gas pipeline was pumped in March of 2007. The pipeline has 4 gas delivery stations, 1 in Azerbaijan and 3 in Georgia.
