Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Energy Parviz Shahbazov meet with the delegation led by US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Kent Logsdon, ONA reports citing the Ministry.
At the meeting, discussions were held on the 26th International “Caspian Oil and Gas-2019” exhibition, energy cooperation between the two countries, the Southern Gas Corridor project and recent events in the energy sector in Azerbaijan.
Kent Logsdon stressed the significant role of the Southern Gas Corridor project in terms of energy security and energy supply of the Balkans and highly appreciated the implementation of the project.
The Ministry of Energy Parviz Shahbazov noted that the Southern Gas Corridor project is about to be completed and that the United States’ continued support is of great importance in this process. The minister called the laying of the foundation of the Bulgarian-Greek inter-connector (ICB) the beginning of the development of the project at a new stage and talked about the fields and their resources, which will operate as additional sources in the future for the corridor.
The sides also discussed a wide range of issues related to domestic gas demand, renewable energy sources and energy efficiency. The prospects of cooperation with the United States were discussed in the process of expanding the use of renewable energy sources.
