SOCAR's construction of a new petrochemical complex is scheduled in Turkey for 2020, Project Manager of “SOCAR Turkey” Emil Alkhasli said at International Conference on Processing and Petrochemical Industry - Projects and Technical Solutions of Caspian and Central Asian Regions held within the framework of IV International SOCAR Forum “Caspian and Central Asia – Trade, Logistics, Oil Refining, Petrochemical.
According to him, the new complex is expected to operate at the end of 2023. The complex will produce 1,2 mln tons of purified terephthalic acid and about 400 thousand tons of benzene per year.
E. Alkhasli stated that the capacity of the complex will be able to provide Turkey with purified terephthalic acid and benzene will be exported to other foreign countries.
"According to preliminary estimates, the construction of the complex will cost USD 2 bln. The cost of the project will be fully clarified by the end of the current year. The tender for the project will be completed in May 2019. Project work will be carried out within a year,” E. Alkhasli said.
