Joint Azerbaijani-Turkish military exercises held in Nakhchivan - PHOTOSESSION

From June 7, on the basis of an agreement on military cooperation signed between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Turkey, live-firing Joint Tactical Exercises “The Indestructible Brotherhood-2019” of the armed forces of the two countries started in Nakhchivan.

Up to 5,000 military personnel, more than 200 tanks, and other armored vehicles, up to 180 rocket and artillery mounts of different caliber, multiple launch rocket systems, and mortars, 21 aircraft and helicopters, unmanned aerial vehicles as well as various samples of modern weapons and military equipment adopted into the armament were  involved in the exercises.

On 11 June, Vasif Talibov, Chairman of the Supreme Majlis of the autonomous republic, Hulusi Akar, Minister of Defense of the Republic of Turkey, and Colonel-General Zakir Hasanov, Minister of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan, observed joint tactical exercises.

Commander of the Separate combined arms army, Lieutenant General Kerem Mustafayev, gave a report on readiness for the exercises.

After familiarization with the weapons, equipment and combat vehicles at the disposal of the Nakhchivan military garrison, the exercise was launched.

Chairman of the Supreme Majlis of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Vasif Talibov greeted the soldiers and officers, congratulated them and the participants of the event on the successful completion of the joint exercises of the armed forces of Azerbaijan and Turkey. “The Head of State paid special attention to strengthening the defense capacity of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. Today, the army, units in the autonomous republic possess powerful material and technical equipment, modern weapons and professional personnel. It should be noted the support of the Turkish Armed Forces in the work carried out in the field of army building in Nakhchivan. Today, the level of cooperation between the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic of Azerbaijan and Turkey in the military sphere is gratifying. The joint military exercises of Azerbaijan and Turkey in Nakhchivan testify to the continuation of this cooperation, as well as the unity between our armies,” he said.

Vasif Talibov, Chairman of the Supreme Majlis of the autonomous republic, Hulusi Akar, Minister of National Defense of the Republic of Turkey, and Colonel General Zakir Hasanov, Minister of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan, awarded valuable gifts to officers and soldiers distinguished in the exercises.
