Spokeswoman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Leyla Abdullayeva commented on Armenian FM’s interview to the public television of this country.
She noted that the above-mentioned interview of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia repeats the statements of the top political leadership of this country, according to which the Prime Minister of Armenia has no right to speak on behalf of the population of Nagorno-Karabakh, while “he can speak on behalf of the people of Armenia - from Tavush to Syunik”.
“Then I would like to reiterate the question already asked by us earlier: what do the young citizens of Armenia, who voted for him during the elections, do in the occupied territories of Azerbaijan in this case ?!
Armenian minister may not remember the statement made by the Co-Chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group in Paris on January 16, but probably did not forget the joint statement adopted on December 6 last year in Milan. The statement says that the foreign ministers of Azerbaijan and Armenia will continue to work to resolve the conflict by achieving a just and sustainable peace. The Azerbaijani side does not hold meetings just for the sake of meetings, and it does not want to convince the international community of its good intentions with such meetings. We have only one decisive and legally justified goal: we are negotiating for the liberation of our territories occupied by Armenia with severe violation of the principles of international law and ensuring the peaceful return of Azerbaijanis lived there to their lands.
If the political leadership of Armenia declares its mandate to act on behalf of the citizens of this country, then let it also speak on behalf of the citizens of Armenia from Tavush, Syunik and other areas currently serving in the occupied territories of Azerbaijan,” Abdullayeva added.
