7th Global Baku Forum kicks off - UPDATED

The 7th Global Baku Forum has kicked off in the capital of Azerbaijan under the motto "A New Foreign Policy, ONA reports.

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev is attending the opening ceremony of the forum.

President of Afghanistan Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, President of Albania Ilir Meta, Member of Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Shefik Dzaferovic, President of Moldova Igor Dodon, President of Montenegro Milo Dukanovic, Prime Minister of Bulgaria Boyko Borisov, former state and government leaders who are members of Nizami Ganjavi International Center, heads of international organizations, well-known public and political figures and scientists have also participated at the Forum.

Forum was opened by co-chair of Nizami Ganjavi International Center Ismail Serageldin.

President of The Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has delivered a speech at the Forum.

The speech of the President of Azerbaijan was followed by President of Afghanistan Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, President of Albania Ilir Meta, Member of Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Shefik Dzaferovic, President of Moldova Igor Dodon, President of Montenegro Milo Dukanovic, Prime Minister of Bulgaria Boyko Borisov’s speeches.

Ambassador of Italy in Azerbaijan Augusto Massari read the message of the President Sergio Mattarella, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland Carol Crofts read the speech of UK Prime Minister Theresa May and Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations, Assistant Administrator of UNDP, Director of the UNDP Regional Bureau for Europe and the CIS Mirjana Spoljaric Egger read the message of UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres.

After co-chair of the Nizami Ganjavi International Center, former president of Latvia Vaira Vike Fraiberga took the stage.

Presentation ceremony of the Nizami Ganjavi International Award for 2019 also took place at the event.

Nizami Ganjavi International Award was presented to the president of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Mohammad Ashraf Ghani and president of the Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights Center Kerry Kennedy according to the decision of the Board of trustees of the Center.

More than 500 delegates from 50 countries attended the event which will last 3 days. The 10 sessions to be held within the forum will generally focus on the discussions on global and regional issues.
