Armenia still refuses to share map of landmines with Azerbaijan: MFA

"Azerbaijan entered the post-conflict period. The return of our citizens displaced from their lands as a result of the Armenian occupation is a priority before our country," said Azerbaijan's Deputy Foreign Minister Elnur Mammadov while delivering a speech at Baku International Conference of Ombudspersons and National Human Rights Institutions on "Role of Ombudspersons and National Human Rights Institutions in the fields of business and human rights" dedicated to the 20th anniversary of Ombudsman Apparatus, ONA reports.

Deputy Minister noted that more than USD 3 bln. were allocated from the state budget for the restoration of the liberated areas from the occupation over the past two years.

“Infrastructure was completely destroyed by Armenians in the liberated areas from the occupation. Now those areas need to be restored from the ground up. However, polluting these areas with landmines by Armenians is the main obstacle to restoration and reconstruction works. Armenians still refuse to provide landmine maps. The accuracy of the maps is not even 25 percent. So far, nearly 3300 people were victims of landmine,” added Deputy Minister.
