Azerbaijan’s MFA: "Armenian FM's statements are absurd"

“The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia that keeps under military occupation for about 30 years the internationally recognized territories of the neighbor country by violating the fundamental principles of the international law, directly creates obstacles for the solution of the conflict through negotiations, moreover, serves for escalation of tension in the region by its actions and statements talks about the establishment of a peaceful environment in the region. The steps of Armenia’s military and political leaders that set to zero the essence of the negotiations are the main obstacle to the establishment of the “peaceful environment” mentioned by the minister of Foreign Affairs of that country”, said the head of the press service department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Azerbaijan Leyla Abdullayeva while commenting on the interview of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Zohrab Mnatsakanyan with the Interfax Agency, ONA reports.

L. Abdullayeva said casting a glance on the actions committed by the Armenian side only during the last one and a half month, the instigating and provocative nature of this country can be clearly observed: “During July 12-16 of the current year, Armenia implementing its another military provocation on the site of Tovuz region of the border between the two states, made the preliminarily planned attempt of attack on the Azerbaijani positions. Armenia’s new act of aggression committed by using force was resolutely prevented by the Armenian army. Armenia wishing to abuse for its nasty goals the situation emerged in Lebanon after the horrible explosion occurred in Beirut City of that country, announced its plan to illegally settle the ethnic Armenians from Lebanon on the occupied territories of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

In this way, the occupant Armenia didn’t hide its intention to entrench results of the ethnic cleansing implemented by it in Azerbaijan’s occupied Nagorno Garabagh region and the surrounding regions. After the failure sustained by the military and political leaders of Armenia in Tovuz provocation, they resorted to other provocations in order to compensate for the failure of this military adventure. The attempt of provocation by the diversion and reconnaissance group of the Armenian armed forces on the line of contact of the Azerbaijani and Armenian armed forces on the site of Goranboy region of the Republic of Azerbaijan on August 23 was prevented, the commander of the group was neutralized. Most recently, the visit to our country’s occupied Khankendi City on August 29 and the meeting of Armenia’s Prime minister N.Pashinyan with the representatives of the puppet regime established there by himself, the calling by him on the Armenian military units on the Azerbaijani territories kept under military occupation currently became another bright example of Armenia being the occupant country and conducting the annexationist policy.

On which peace, which suggestions and initiatives aimed at decreasing tension in the region, does Z. Mnatsakanyan talks after all the above-mentioned?
Reasons of criminal deeds of representatives of a country, of which new generation is brought up on the basis of Nzdehism racial ideology and fascism values, which supports terrorism at the state level, based on vandalism and hatred against Azerbaijan in different countries of the world are clear for all. Thus, these thoughts of the Armenian minister, connecting the prevention of ethnic conflicts in foreign countries to a demonstration of a political will in the resolution of the conflict, are nonsense, as Armenia has not been able to demonstrate the political will for years.

The withdrawal of Armenian aggressive forces from Azerbaijan’s internationally-recognized territories and restoration of rights of people, expelled from these territories are necessary for provision of the sustainable peace in the region. Armenia should finally demonstrate political will and take concrete steps in this direction.”
