The City of Chicago of Illinois has announced May 28, 2019, as the National Day of Azerbaijan, said the head of Azerbaijani Center of Midwest America - ACMA Farid Mammadov, ONA reports.
He noted that governor of Illinois, J.B. Pritzker, has signed a declaration and the State Flag of Azerbaijan was officially raised in front of the City Hall in the center of Chicago city.
F. Mammadov and representatives of the Azerbaijani community gave detailed information on the history of Azerbaijan to the city residents.
Then state anthems of the US and Azerbaijan were performed. The flag of Azerbaijan was solemnly raised accompanying Azerbaijan National Anthem. In the end, representatives of the Azerbaijani community and residents of the city took a picture in front of our flag.
The governor of the Illinois state noted that over the past 20 years of independence, Azerbaijan has strengthened its sovereignty and independence and became a strong ally and strategic partner of the United States in the Caspian region.
