Committee chairman of Azerbaijani parliament suggests to suspend extraordinary session of Milli Majlis

“There is no need to continue extraordinary session of Milli Majlis. Currently, I do not see any necessity for this,” chairman of the parliamentary committee on labor and social policy Musa Guliyev told ONA.

M. Guliyev said that gathering 125 people in one hall is a risk in any case: “On the other side, if tomorrow 30 members of Parliament infect with coronavirus, then Milli majlis may fall into completely paralyzed situation. In the absence of quorum the activity of parliament will suspend. It is a serious issue.”

Deputy noted that spring session has ended, in fact: “We determine the date of the extraordinary session ourselves. Let it be held not now, but in August. It can be held after passing through peak period of spread of the virus. Truly, social distance is maintained, mask is used in Azerbaijani Parliament, but if a person breathe in the Parliament for 2-3 hours, the concentration of the virus increase.”
