Evgeni Mikhailov: Establishment and existence of Armenian state was possible only thanks to Russia

“The establishment and existence of the Armenian state were possible only thanks to Russia. Without Russia, Armenia was not able to preserve its identity. Today the West tries to separate Armenia from Russia,” Russian political expert Evgeni Mikhailov told ONA’s Moscow correspondent while commenting on Macron's statement accusing Russia of weakening Armenia.

According to the Russian expert, Macron's accusation that Russia deliberately provoked the recent clashes between Armenia and Azerbaijan to destabilize the Caucasus region and beyond is nonsense: “France has lost its impact in the region. In general, Macron is an unstable politician. His accusation of Russia trying to weaken Armenia does not fit into any framework. Namely Russian Federation is a guarantee of the security of Armenia. Namely, Russian servicemen protect Armenia’s borders and the safety of Armenians in Karabakh. In general, Russia ensures the security of the Republic of Armenia. However, France is an enemy country to Russia.”

Mikhailov noted that the plans of the European Union to send a mission to the Armenian-Azerbaijani border based on Nikol Pashinyan's proposal are without a perspective: "Border mission of the European Union which is planned to be sent on Armenia-Azerbaijan border is absolute without a perspective. This, at first, is a step aimed at supporting Armenia. The goal is to completely separate Armenia, which has been a protectorate of Russia for more than 100 years. Generally, Armenia could not preserve its identity without Russia. The establishment and existence of the Armenian state have been possible thanks to Russia. That is why I consider Macron's claims baseless. The French President has no choice right now. Macron lost Africa, France is likely to lose its impact everywhere, and there are problems within the country. That is why Macron's statements should not be accepted seriously right now".
