“Diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Croatia were established in 1995,” Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov said at a press conference after his meeting with Croatia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Marija Pejčinović Burić, ONA reports.
The minister said that a Croatian embassy will start operating in Azerbaijan from today.
“We signed a strategic partnership document in 2013. We discussed directions of action in this context. Croatia’s position on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is clear. Croatia recognizes the borders recognized within territorial integrity and internationally. It supports the conflict’s resolution peacefully and within the UN Security Council resolutions.”
Mammadyarov noted that Croatia is also interested in the Southern Gas Corridor project.
“We discussed strengthening of energy cooperation. We need to strengthen cooperation in transportation. There is considerable potential for infrastructure. The Croatian side supports and accepts this.”
