The Georgian Patriarchate strongly condemns any attempts to slander the sincere relations between our countries and peoples and offend Muslims' beliefs, says statement posted on the website of the Georgian Patriarchate, ONA reports.
The Statement reads that the discussions with Azerbaijan began in this direction and some positive progress has already been achieved.
"Recent events around the temple sparked anger among the people. We also declare that the complex is very sacred and is one of the oldest Georgian cultural monuments. We hope that the friendship between our peoples will continue," the statement said.
