Chief of Staff of the President of Iran: "We have been informed on the placard scandal via the Azerbaijani media"

"The presentation of a piece of paper at a guest-type event is useless and unimportant. We will not allow any force inside or outside the country to damage our good relations with Azerbaijan," said Chief of Staff of the President of Iran Mahmoud Vaezi said in his exclusive interview to REAL TV commenting on Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s selfie with poster reflecting "Nagorno-Karabakh is Armenia" slogan.

He stressed that the development and strengthening of relations with Azerbaijan is very important for Iran. "Therefore, in our official discussions and open discussions, we do not allow anybody to say word that is harmful to Azerbaijan-Iran relations. During the official talks, press statements and official talks with Iranian officials during the visit of the Armenian prime minister to Tehran, nothing was said about Azerbaijan, Karabakh, no issues were raised, in general, such issues were not discussed. "

M. Vaezi said that they were aware of the poster scandal via Azerbaijani media: "He attended an event in which Armenians gathered in Tehran. One of the premise owners hanged placard in Armenian - the language we do not understand. After spreading this issue in the Azerbaijani media, we realized what was happening, and we knew that there was an incident contrary to the policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Our policy is very clear. We have always declared that the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan should be officially recognized and respected and we have always respected the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. We have repeatedly proclaimed this. This is our principal position. We have declared at different levels that we support the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. It is useless and unimportant to show a piece of paper in a person's unofficial event, in fact, at a guest-ceremony. "
