Russian MFA: Incidents on Azerbaijan-Armenia border are not directly related to Karabakh settlement

“The situation in the zone of responsibility of the Russian peacekeeping forces in Karabakh remains relatively stable. Separate incidents are solved by our counterparts from Azerbaijan and Armenia. No provocative actions against Russian peacekeepers have been recorded,” said the official representative of Russian Foreign Ministry Mariya Zakharova at the briefing held today, ONA’s Moscow correspondent reports.

“When it comes to the direct connection of the incidents in different regions of the Azerbaijani-Armenian border with the Karabakh settlement, we once again note that we do not evaluate it so. We consider that the border incidents are not directly related to the Karabakh settlement, and those incidents are the result of the lack of a legally formed border between Azerbaijan and Armenia. We have said many times that we see a long-term and sustainable solution to the issue of starting to process of the delimitation and demarcation of the borders between Azerbaijan and Armenia. We are ready to provide consultative assistance. At present, contacts are underway with the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Defense and the Border Services for de-escalation,” said an official of Russian MFA.
