Russian MFA supports Azerbaijan's initiative on holding UN GA special session dedicated to COVID-19

"Russia continues to oppose the politicization of global cooperation in the medical field", Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said at a briefing today, ONA's Moscow correspondent reports.

She stressed that her country is against the politicization of global cooperation in the health field: ”We once again note that COVID-19 is an appeal for all international community. Intensive fight against pandemic is possible with the support of all states. As you know it is our principal position.”

M. Zakharova noted that Russia supports Azerbaijan’s initiative about the convening of the special session of the UN General Assembly (GA) dedicated to COVID-19: “This initiative of the convening of the special session was supported by us previously. We hope that the constructive discussions will be conducted for the prevention of the spread of the coronavirus pandemic and its negative consequences”.

Remind that the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev came forward with the initiative of holding of the special session of the UN General Assembly dedicated to COVID-19.
