Today, leaders of political parties represented in the Azerbaijani Parliament have met with co-rapporteur of the PACE Monitoring Committee for Azerbaijan Stefan Schennach, ONA reports.
Deputy Executive Secretary of the New Azerbaijan Party Siyavush Novruzov, Chairman of the Democratic Reforms Party of Azerbaijan Asim Mollazadeh, Chairman of Motherland Party Fazail Aghamali, Chairman of Whole Azerbaijan Popular Front Party Gudrat Hasanguliev, Chairman of the National Revival Movement Party Faraj Guliyev, Chairman of the Social Democrat Party Araz Alizadeh, Chairman of Unity Party Tahir Karimli, Chairman of Azerbaijan Democratic Enlightenment Party Elshan Musayev have attended the meeting.
Welcoming the guests Deputy Executive Secretary of the New Azerbaijan Party, the chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Public Associations and Religious Organizations Siyavush Novruzov has said that such meetings are important in terms of exchange of views.
It was noted that Azerbaijan attaches great importance to its relations with PACE and intends to further expand cooperation. Azerbaijani MPs take an active part in various events organized by the PACE and express their objectivity to the issues discussed within the organization.
At the meeting, leaders of political parties informed about their activities in the country's socio-political life and said they were actively involved in the legislative process.
MPs comment on Azerbaijan's fulfilling of its commitments to the Council of Europe and settlement of Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
Co-rapporteur of the PACE Monitoring Committee for Azerbaijan Stefan Schennach thanked for warm welcoming and spoke about the meetings and negotiations held during the visit. It was noted that PACE closely monitors democratic processes in Azerbaijan and is interested in strengthening cooperation with Azerbaijan.
The sides exchanged views on the relations between Azerbaijan and the Council of Europe, the course of the monitoring process and other issues of mutual interest.
Member of the ruling New Azerbaijan Party Rauf Aliyev attended the meeting.
