Valentina Matviyenko: “Azerbaijan-Russia relations actively develop in all spheres”

“Relations between Azerbaijan and Russia actively develop in all in terms of political, economic, energy and humanitarian spheres,” said Valentina Matviyenko, Chairwoman of the Russian Federation Council in Baku, ONA reports.

“Our relations are strategic. One of the main events in the Azerbaijan-Russia relations was the visit of President Ilham Aliyev to Russia in September 2018 and his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin. More than 15 documents were signed within the framework of the meeting including an intergovernmental cooperation program, as well as an action plan between the two countries on humanitarian cooperation until 2024,” the Chairwoman of the Russian Federation Council stated.

According to Matviyenko, the purpose of her visit is to hold meetings with Speaker of Azerbaijani Parliament Ogtay Asadov and other representatives and discuss the action program for cooperation.

“Implementation of the action program will make a strong contribution to the development of relations between Azerbaijan and Russia,” she said.
