PACE President: "Azerbaijan's joining to us became an important turning point in the formation of large society in Europe"

“Joining of Azerbaijan and other neighboring countries to the Council of Europe has become an important turning point in the formation process of a large society in Europe,” Liliane Maury Pasquier, the President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) said while her speech in a high-level round-table conference devoted to the 70th anniversary of the Council of Europe entitled “Our rights, our freedoms, our Europe” at the French-Azerbaijani University in Baku, ONA reports.

Referring to objectives of the establishment of the organization and its achievements, the president said that the Council of Europe has worked to ensure human rights, democracy and the rule of law in member countries.

She noted that PACE has also taken important steps in the direction of better understanding and unity among the nations.
