Azerbaijani community of Nagorno Garabagh sends letter to 751 members of European Parliament

The members of the “Azerbaijani community of Nagorno Garabagh region of Azerbaijan Republic” have sent letter to 751 members of the European Parliament, the Community told ONA.

In the letter, the community members expressed their confidence in that the members of the European Parliament would adopt resolute decisions and show fair position regarding restoration and protection of rights of Azerbaijani refugees and IDPs and their return to their native lands.

“In the contemporary times when the issue of protection of rights of refugees and IDPs has been put on the second place, you, the members of the European Parliament have started to fulfill this supreme mission. It is very regrettable that currently we observe deterioration by violent actions of many achievements in the area of protection of human rights in the contemporary world. In these hard times we are determined to witness the demonstration on your part of staunch will for the sake of protection of human rights of Azerbaijani IDPs suffering from Armenian military aggression. We are the those who were expelled from native Nagorno Garabagh and adjacent regions by force and subjected to ethnic cleansing”, noted in the letters.

It has also been noted in the letter that human rights are universal and can not be implemented optionally against Azerbaijani Community of Nagorno Garabagh region: “We have a right of return to Motherland, own our properties, which we have been deprived of, and live with dignity in lands of our forefathers without fear of being killed and subjected to ethnic cleansing.  We clearly declare our intention on peaceful co-existence with Armenian Community of Nagorno Garabagh region within internationally recognized borders of the Republic of Azerbaijan. From this point of view, we are sure direct dialogue between Azerbaijani and Armenian Communities of Nagorno Garabagh region will help to create opportunity relevant for future peace and welfare. At the same time, it will contribute to fair resolution of Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno Garabagh conflict on the basis of international law and principles.”
