“Taking into consideration the complexity of the process and fundamental modification of procedure of financing of medical enterprises, the agency proposed the phased introduction of medical insurance to Azerbaijani government and parliament in 2020”, said Zaur Aliyev, Chairman of Management Board of State Agency for Compulsory Medical Insurance of Azerbaijani Republic during discussion of the changes to be made in the draft Law “On medical insurance” at the plenary session of Azerbaijani Parliament, ONA reports.
He said that the phased introduction means that a process consisting of 4 phases would be implemented throughout the country during 2020: “The regions of Azerbaijan are divided into 4 parts i.e. the northern, western and southern regions, Baku and Sumgait cities and Absheron region. In the first quarter of the year, it has been envisaged to completely introduce the compulsory medical insurance principles in the northern part of the country consisting of 20 regions. In the second quarter of the year, it has been envisaged to completely introduce the compulsory medical insurance principles in the western part of the country consisting of 17 regions, and in the third quarter of the year, it has been planned to involve into this process the remaining 14 regions which comprise the southern part of the country. And finally, in the fourth quarter of the year, it has been envisaged to involve into this process Baku and Sumgait and Absheron region. Thus, it has been planned to apply for compulsory medical insurance in the whole country until the end of 2020”.
