Application of ASAN Visa service at Baku International Sea Trade Port starts

The issuance of visas by means of ASAN Visa service to Turkmenistan citizens acting as participants of the international transportations implemented by passing through territories of Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan has been launched, the State Agency for Public Service and Social Innovations under President of Azerbaijan Republic told ONA.

In order to ensure the above-mentioned activity, the Agreement on simplification of the visa regime signed on November 22, 2018, in Ashgabat city between the Government of Azerbaijan Republic and Government of Turkmenistan has been approved by the decision of Parliament of Azerbaijan Republic dated 12 February 2019.

The Turkmenistan citizens acting as participants of the international transportations implemented by passing through territories of both countries can obtain electronic visas by means of ASAN Visa system at Baku International Sea Trade Port situated in Alat settlement and being the main transport and logistics hub of the region.

In 2018, a record number – 47 000 passengers visited Azerbaijan through Baku Port and most of them were Turkmen citizens.

More than 1 842 000 visas have been provided through the ASAN Visa system so far. 34% of them fall to the share of visas, provided via the mentioned system for 15 citizens in Azerbaijan’s international airports.

While looking through to the first 11 months of 2019,  39% more, or 869 905 visas have been issued this year in comparison to the related period of the previous year. 82% of these foreigners who traveling to Azerbaijan with ASAN Visa have noted their aim of traveling as tourism.

Most of those who applied for an electronic visa to Azerbaijan are the citizens of the United Kingdom, Israel, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, India, Pakistan, China, Iran, Turkmenistan.
