Azerbaijan celebrates Ramadan Holiday

Today marks Ramadan holiday in Azerbaijan, APA reports.

The Ramadan month in Azerbaijan started on April 25.

According to the calendar, the odd-numbered nights of the last ten days (Ahya nights one of which is the Laylat al-Qadr, variously rendered in English as the Night of Decree, Night of Power, Night of Value, Night of Destiny, or Night of Measures, the night when the Quran was first sent down from Heaven to the world and also the night when the first verses of the Quran were revealed to the prophet Muhammad) of Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic calendar fell on May 12, May 14, May 16 and May 20.

In Azerbaijan, the Ramadan holiday is celebrated on the 1st day of Shavval month i.e. on May 24 depending on the time when the Moon shows itself on the horizon area of our country.
