“The Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of the Population of the Azerbaijan Republic and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) will for the first time prepare a draft National Plan of Action for the Prevention of Suicide,” Anar Kerimov, Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, said at a round table that was organized by the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population and the United Nations Development Program, ONA reports.
A. Kerimov noted that the solutions to this problem are as different as the causes of suicide. He brought to the attention that in order to reduce the number of suicides, educational work, psychological support for those who tried to commit suicide, including timely access to psychiatrists and psychologists of people who have experienced severe severe stress due to mental disorders, are important.
The deputy minister noted that widespread media coverage of cases of suicide, the justification of such cases and the heroization of suicides are unacceptable.
The deputy minister also emphasized the importance of comprehensive targeted activities at the family, school, community and state levels.
