“Monitorings conducted regarding atmosphere air demonstrated that air pollution intensifies in the windless period with high temperature in hot summer days”, said Mirsalam Ganbarov, head of department of Azerbaijani MENR, ONA reports.
According to him, currently more than 70% of air pollution in the capital is caused by the transportation vehicles: “These figures are completely different 15-20 years ago. Currently, there are more than 1 million 400 thousands transport vehicles in Azerbaijan. Alongside, accumulation of big industrial corporations and dense population of people are the factors polluting the air. Other reason that impact the quality of air is not following ecological norms and standards in economical activities”
He noted that fuel produced in Azerbaijan will be complied with Euro 5 standards in 2021, which will diminish the amount of harmful substances emitted by vehicles to the atmosphere.
