People under 25 will not be able to adopt children in Azerbaijan

The age limit for those who want to adopt a child is set in Azerbaijan, ONA reports.

The amendment regarding this is proposed to the Family Code.

Name and items of Article 121 of the Document (age difference between the adopted child and the adopting parent) are given in the new edition:
So, the name of the article is renamed as "Age requirements for people (person) wishing to adopt".

According to the item number 121.1, the minimum age limit for one of the married people (husband-wife) is 25, for unmarried 30 except for the step-father (step-mother), as well as close relatives (sister-brother, grandmother-grandfather, sisters and brothers of parents).

And according to item 121.2, the age difference between the unmarried person who wishes to adopt and the child adopted by must not be less than 18 excluding the step-father (step-mother), as well as close relatives (sister-brother, grandmother-grandfather, sisters and brothers of parents).

Amendments to the Code will be discussed at a plenary session to be held on October 22.
