Result of analysis of water sample taken from Boyuk Shor lake in connection with spread of sharp smell in Baku became known

“The results of monitoring and analyses conducted on water sample by specialists of MENR (the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources) in connection with spread of sharp smell all around in Narimanov and Binagadi districts of Baku City at evening hours on July 6 have become known”, said to journalists the deputy head of the National Hydrometeorology Service Vasif Aliyev, ONA reports.

He noted that according to the results, the sample is of greenish color and smells of swamp, its hardness is 1.8 times, the quantity of its chloride ions is 15.5 times, the quantity of its ammonium ions is 5.3 times, the quantity of its sulfate ions is 2.5 times above norm. It has been recorded that in total, the quantity of the ions is 11.6 times above norm.

V.Aliyev said it is assumed that the waste materials developed during the fire broken out at Sobsan factory have been discharged to Boyuk Shor lake, and the investigations in this regard are being continued.

The observation of high temperature and stagnant air condition in Baku City and on Absheron peninsula in recent days also has caused further sharpening of the smell.
