Jahangir Hajiyev sentenced to 16 years and 6 months in prison - UPDATED

The Baku Grave Crimes Court has delivered verdict on the criminal case of the former head of the International Bank of Azerbaijan (IBA) Jahangir Hajiyev, his relative Ismayil Hidayetzade, ex-MP Dunyamin Khalilov and other persons accused of embezzlement.

At the trial, chaired by Judge Faig Ganiyev, Jahangir Hajiyev, Ismayil Hidayetzade, Dunyamin Khalilov have been sentenced to 16 years and 6 months, 14 years and 6 months and 5 years and 6 months, respectively, including previous sentences.



Sentence is being pronounced at the Baku Court of Grave Crimes regarding the criminal case of Jahangir Hajiyev, former chairman of the International Bank OJSC, his relative Ismayil Hidayetzade, former MP Dunyamin Khalilov and other who are accused of appropriation, ONA reports.

Collegium chaired by the Judge Faig Ganiyev will announce the verdict today after several days’ consultation meeting.  

Note that J. Hajiyev has been convicted to 15 years, D.Khalilov to 13 years and Ismayil Hidayetzade to 7 years of prison sentence due to the verdict of Baku Court of Grave Crimes.  Baku Court of Appeal reduced the sentence of D.Khalilov to 13 years, while Supreme Court decreased I.Hidayetzade’s punishment to 5 years.
