Virus infecting Chinese citizen traveling to Georgia from Azerbaijan couldn’t be identified

It was impossible to identify the type of flu virus that had infected 2 people taken under control with coronavirus suspicion in Georgia, said in a statement Tengiz Tsertsvadze, General Director of Georgia’s Infectious Diseases Hospital, ONA’s local bureau reports.

He said 20 substances which could cause flu have been looked for in the bodies of the woman being a Georgian citizen and returning from China’s Wuhan province where the flu has widely spread and a Chinese citizen of 24 years old, but none of them has been detected. Therefore the blood samples will be sent to Germany in order to determine whether the flu having infected the patients is a coronavirus infection.

T. Tserstvadze noted that none of the patients has pneumonia being a symptom of coronavirus infection, however this virus can also infect a human without pneumonia.

Note that the Chinese citizen of 24 years old arrived in Georgia in transit through Azerbaijan yesterday. And the Georgian woman together with her juvenile child returned to Georgia from Dubai yesterday. The report says she stayed in Wuhan for 2 weeks earlier.
