Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif left Tehran for New York on Friday morning to attend the 74th Meeting of the UN General Assembly in the city, ONA reports citing IRNA.
Iranian top diplomat is also set to meet a number of his counterparts from various countries on the sidelines of the event.
Also, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani will depart for New York on Monday.
The US issued visas for Iran's officials on Thursday.
UN announced in a statement that leaders of the countries will take part in a series of sessions with the aim of beefing up efforts in the fields of climate change, sustainable growth, health and global peace in addition to the General Assembly.
