“Relations with the countries, of which priority is to join the NATO, will strictly be damaged”, said Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergey Lavrov in interview to Kommersant newspaper, ONA’s Moscow correspondent reports.
Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs touched on NATO officials’ statements on possibility of acceptance of Georgia to the Alliance without Abkhazia and South Ossetia and explained which measures would be taken by the country in this case: “If Georgia joins the NATO, I promise you, we will not start the war. However Russia’s relations with the countries, considering the North Atlantic Alliance or joining this organization their main goal, will be seriously damaged. Moreover, theses have already been put forward in Brussels on necessity of NATO’s turning from defense alliance to the alliance, which brings democracy and security to the Earth. Hegemony, self-exemption feeling – all is allowed for liberals, while non-liberals should obey.”
